A world-class tourist destination in the heart of the Bootheel, the facility houses uniquely rare live reptile specimens that are almost never seen in the wild or in zoos. The huge Wildlife and Botanical Garden is free to all visitors of the gift shop that includes Native American jewelry, natural history artwork, books, and wearables.

The museum is growing monthly with new donations by residents, both past and present. It is non-profit, free, and operated in part by volunteers. The museum contains thousands of artifacts, photographs, and equipment dating back to the late 19th century.

Walk the streets trod by Billy The Kid, John Ringo, Curley Bill, Russian Bill, The Clantons, Jim Hughes, and Sandy King. Shakespeare allows you to walk a portion of the Butterfield Trail, see 28 points of interest and hear stories of the West as it really was. Call to reserve a time and confirm tour availability.

The Chiricahua Gallery is a non-profit, cooperative art gallery housed in a historic building constructed in 1910. The Gallery features an ever-changing collection of oils, mixed media, jewelry, and woodworking and is a destination point on the New Mexico Fiber Arts Trail.

A must stop in historic Lordsburg. Excellent selection of rocks, minerals and jewelry. Nice selection of women's and men's western wear at reasonable prices. You must meet Verla. What a doll ! Very kind, sharp and knowledgeable lady. In business since 1969. Enjoy the nostalgic drive through this part of town.

The library was a WPA building completed in August 1937. The Aztec-Pueblo style is pleasing and unique. It is designated a Historic Building on the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties and the National Register of Historic Places. The adobe wall around the library is even older, dating back to the Hidalgo County Courthouse Park, built in the 1920s. Today, the library houses more than 22,000 volumes and occupies the entire building. It also features special collections of Reference, Southwest, Spanish, Children's, Grant Writing, Literacy, and Audio-Visual.
