Shakespeare Ghost Town
About three miles south of Lordsburg NM
Walk the streets trod by Billy The Kid, John Ringo, Curley Bill, Russian Bill, The Clantons, Jim Hughes, and Sandy King. Lordsburg Hidalgo Library
208 E. 3rd Street, Lordsburg NM
The library was a WPA building completed in August 1937. The Aztec-Pueblo style is pleasing and unique. It is designated a Historic Building on the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties and the National Register of Historic Places. The adobe wall around the library is even older, dating back to the Hidalgo County Courthouse Park, built in the 1920s. Today, the library houses more than 22,000 volumes and occupies the entire building. It also features special collections of Reference, Southwest, Spanish, Children's, Grant Writing, Literacy, and Audio-Visual.
